With a starting price just more than $2000 above the Insight's base price, and mileage combined city/highway mileage almost 10 miles per gallon more, Toyota hopes the new Prius will be the victor.

The current Prius engine has a 1.8 liter V4 with 98 horsepower and 105 foot-pounds of torque. That's a relative weak engine when compared to the Corolla's 1.8 liter V4 which delivers 132 horsepower.
